Press Release--
SAN MARCOS, Texas, Sept. 22, 2021— Launching today at multiple colleges throughout Central Texas, Supporters of College Athletes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping college athletes get through mental blocks and other mental health disorders by providing therapy opportunities from licensed sports psychologists.
“We love supporting our college sports teams but never take into consideration the stress and liability these players feel every day,” said Ashley Nunn, founder of Supporters of College Athletes.
One out of three college students will experience significant symptoms of mental health disorders. Among those students, 30% will seek help, but only 10% of college athletes will. This nonprofit was started in hopes of changing these statistics.
Supporters of College Athletes is starting the nonprofit organization at Texas State University, The University of Texas and The University of Texas at San Antonio. At these colleges, the organization offers group and private sessions.
“I started this nonprofit to bring awareness to the community and help to the athletes, sort of like a support system. I can’t wait to see the positive impact this nonprofit will bring,” Nunn said.
The organization is focused on therapy, support and bringing awareness to the mental health aspect of playing sports in college. For more information, go to www.SCAthletes.com or follow Supporters of College Athletes on Instagram and Twitter @SCAthletes.

We provide online and in person therapy sessions with certified sports psychologists and host group sessions once a week on campus to get to know each other and start new friendships with athletes that are going through the same things.
