Press Release--
SAN MARCOS, Texas — The San Antonio Spurs participated in Supporters of College Athletes’ basketball tournament fundraiser on Oct. 16, to support the non-profit and bring awareness to mental health struggles of athletes.
“First off, I want to thank the Spurs for coming to our tournament, they really helped bring out a good crowd for a good cause. I am very proud of our team and all we accomplished today. Mental health matters!” said Ashley Nunn, founder of Supporters of College Athletes.
Supporters of College Athletes had eight different teams sign up to play, including the Spurs, and hosted a 30-minute speech about the ins and outs of performance anxiety, PTSD and depression, as well as coping mechanisms that help overcome those issues.
Attendees also had a chance to meet and take pictures with the San Antonio Spurs players and get to know the organization more. Sports psychologists were also there to talk to the college athletes in attendance and show them what SCA has to offer.
“This fundraiser has really helped us set things into motion and start heading in the right direction for SCA,” Nunn said.
The organization is focused on therapy, support and bringing awareness to the mental health aspect of playing sports in college. For more information, go to www.SCAthletes.com or follow Supporters of College Athletes on Instagram and Twitter @SCAthletes.

About Supporters of College Athletes
Founded in 2021, Supporters of College Athletes has started to bring awareness and help to college athlete’s mental health. Located in Central Texas, offering services to students at Texas State University, The University of Texas and The University of Texas San Antonio, with hopes to expand. Our mission at Supporters of College Athletes is to bring awareness to the daily struggles that athletes in college go through and offer therapy opportunities that can help them overcome the mental blocks, performance anxiety, depression, and PTSD that playing sports can cause. We provide online and in person therapy sessions with certified sports psychologists and host group sessions once a week on campus to get to know each other and start new friendships with athletes that are going through the same things. Volunteers are always welcome to come help. To keep up with everything we are doing, follow us on Instagram and Twitter @SCAthletes and check out our website www.SCAthletes.org
