Press Release--
SAN MARCOS, Texas — The non-profit Supporters of College Athletes is expanding to Houston area colleges this spring to continue their mission of helping college athletes better their mental health.
By expanding to the Houston area, SCA hopes to reach colleges like The University of Houston, Rice University, Houston Baptist University and Texas Southern University. Ashley Nunn, founder of SCA, chose to expand towards Houston because she grew up there and has a special connection with the city.
“Expanding to Houston is a really big deal for me because I have always wanted to give back to the community I grew up in and now I feel like I have that chance. This is a very special opportunity for SCA, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish,” Nunn said.
Kickstarting the expansion at the University of Houston, SCA will be hosting a meet and great and forum to show the school what they are all about and get feedback on what the college athletes want to see from them on campus. Information on this meet and great will be available soon.
“Feedback from the college athletes is very important to us because we want to know how we can best meet their needs and get a better feel for what they are going through,” Nunn said.
This organization is dedicated to improving college athletes’ mental health, whether that be through therapy sessions, group events or even support animals, SCA does it all. For more information on SCA’s upcoming events or to schedule therapy sessions, visit www.SCAthletes.org.

About Supporters of College Athletes
Founded in 2021, Supporters of College Athletes has started to bring awareness and help to college athlete’s mental health. Located in Central Texas, offering services to students at Texas State University, The University of Texas and The University of Texas San Antonio, with hopes to expand. Our mission at Supporters of College Athletes is to bring awareness to the daily struggles that athletes in college go through and offer therapy opportunities that can help them overcome the mental blocks, performance anxiety, depression, and PTSD that playing sports can cause. We provide online and in person therapy sessions with certified sports psychologists and host group sessions once a week on campus to get to know each other and start new friendships with athletes that are going through the same things. Volunteers are always welcome to come help. To keep up with everything we are doing, follow us on Instagram and Twitter @SCAthletes and check out our website www.SCAthletes.org
